The International Tyrolean Trentino Organization of North America
(I. T. T. O. N. A.)
serves as an umbrella organization uniting all Tyrolean-Trentini
clubs in North America. It acts as a liaison between all
the North American Tyrolean-Trentini clubs and the Trentino
nel Mondo Association and Autonomous Provincial government
of Trento organizations. ITTONA organizes the biennial
ITTONA convention with the chosen host club, promotes
harmonious fellowship and organizes new Trentini Clubs.
ITTONA
was founded June 20, 1976. |
A note from the
President of the International Tyrolean Trentino Organization
of North America - Benny Maganzini (elected in 2006).
My
parents came to America in 1946 with 1 son and 3 daughters,
in 1946 they had another boy and in 1951 I was born (the
best thing that ever happened to them). My mom and dad
were kind of old when they had me so when they would return
to Italy it was always with me and I was lucky for that. I
got married in 1977 to
Gayle who was half Italian (Avellino) and the other
half Irish. We went to Italy on our honeymoon and that was
it, we both fell in love with all of Trentino. That
was the beginning of
vacationing there every year and sometimes twice a year
thereafter. We had our first child Crystal in 1981 and three
boys after that in 1983, 85, 89 there names being Brett,
Kyle, and Craig. We've visited Italy with them and they have
all taken to be in love with
Trento as we had and
they visit there even with out us
tagging along. We
have since ended up with the family home in
Guistino (Pinzolo)
and have a lot of
great friends as well as all the relatives that are in
Trento Province. Our
children particularly
Crystal has been very active in
Trento spending time
schooling (master’s degree) and working there as well. I
have seen first hand how
Trentini nel Mondo can help. My life in U.S.A.
has been in the knife sharpening industry (Moleta), first in
the family business in Boston, MA and now in the Connecticut
area. I became interested in the New England Club in 1992
and became president in 2002. I've been very happy on
carrying on that job and it's been nothing but a good time.
I wish that I could pass on to all
descendents what a
great culture and heritage Trentino is to learn about. I
hope I gave you enough history of myself and look forward to
having a lot of fun in this job as well.
